Tavarius Lewis, Case Manager

My name is Tavarius Lewis AKA "T", a native of New Iberia.  I've been with Juvenile Drug Court for 5 years 8 months.  After graduating high school in 1993, I then later went to college (University of Southwestern LA, Lafayette, LA).   Music has always been my "FORTE", so I thought I'll end up being a band director.  Nevertheless the table turned in 1996.  I moved back to New Iberia and started working in the Iberia Parish School Board System as a substitute teacher.  I really enjoyed working with the kids; it felt as if I was giving back to the community.  After 4 years and a few months, my School Board career ended when I was hired at the Iberia Parish Juvenile Drug Court.   I never knew I would really end up working in the Substance Abuse field, however it has been GREAT.  Case Management was my initial position here at the Juvenile Drug Court.  Since my duration here I also have had the opportunity to provide counseling to families.  My job now consists of strictly Case Management.

I must say that I have enjoyed every moment here.  I also would like to thank organizations such as LADCP, NADCP and LASACT for providing the necessary training I need to help make this program a success.
