Parish DWI Courts provide treatment for individuals diagnosed with chemical
dependency or those that have been convicted of a DWI.
Parish DWI Court Teams believe the the criminal justice population has a huge
substance abuse problem (including alcohol); that is the primary factor in the
causation of crime within the 16th Judicial District of Louisiana. Court Teams
provide judicial monitoring, legal support from the District Attorney and Defense
Bar, intensive outpatient substance abuse treatment, supervision through
probation and parole, and the support of Law Enforcement with the objective of
reducing the rate of incarceration in Louisiana along with the goal of enabling
clients to free themselves of addictive disorders.
